We are working on this issue. This thread is for people who have experienced a dramatic slowdown in SkyDemon since our version 3.6.2. We will release a series of build on this thread testing a few changes until we discover what the cause is/was and find a way to work around it.

The first build is at the link below. It is our 3.6.2 version built with current tools. We expect it to have high performance, and the purpose of the build is to prove (to ourselves) that is isn't the build tools, and that it's something within the SkyDemon code over which we have control.

I just tried to load the app in the link above and it proceeds but then says "app not installed".
Is that because I have already loaded that version?
I have the following on my S3:
aero.skydemon.skydemonandriod.362newtools.apk
aero.skydemon.skydemonandriod-aligned.apk
aero.skydemon.skydemonandriod-aligned.3.6.2.apk

It is the aero.skydemon.skydemonandriod.362newtools.apk that gives the app not installed response.
Tony

You need to uninstall your current version of SD in order to install 3.6.2newtools

Okay. I suppose that is because I am going backwards in version history.

The next build is available for test:

http://www.skydemon.aero/extras/aero.skydemon.skydemonandroid.test1.apk

This is 3.6.3 with various reversions to 3.6.2 (including the version information, so it will report 3.6.2) but most features from 3.6.3 intact. In my own tests I expect this build to still perform with the speed of 3.6.2. Some stuff might be broken, but that's the nature of this process.

SD version 3.6.2.21744 (362newtools) has very good screen build times. I will use this as the benchmark for further testing.

test1 shows as version 3.6.3.26707 when "Help" selected.

I would say that screen build times are the same as for the baseline test version (3.6.2.21744)
This version gives the tapered track lines. It also hung up, but as you say, probably expected behavior.

Ok, I think I have identified the culprit. I am preparing a new build, the very latest code this time (version 3.6.5 plus extras) but with a change that I hope will restore performance from 3.6.2 and earlier.
